Epitalon and Pinealon are sold side by side as "bioregulators", and searches compare them as if they were two strengths of one idea. They come from the same Russian research tradition on short "bioregulator" peptides, but their human records are separate, small, and by routes that have nothing to do with the research vial: one by injection beside the eye and under the tongue, the other by capsule. This page sets out the published amounts for each, what the vendor figures are and how far they sit from those amounts, and the arithmetic for the vial sizes each is sold in (sources opened 2026-10-22). It reports figures; it suggests none.
Each compound has its own page with the full record: Epitalon (Epithalon) dosage and Pinealon dosage. Any vial and water volume is worked by the calculators for Epithalon and Pinealon.
Side by side
| Epitalon | Pinealon | |
|---|---|---|
| Sequence | Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (4 residues) | Glu-Asp-Arg (3 residues) |
| Formula, weight (PubChem) | C14H22N4O9, 390.35 g/mol | C15H26N6O8, 418.40 g/mol |
| Origin | Designed from the amino acid composition of Epithalamin, a bovine pineal extract | Russian short-peptide ("cytogen") research; human papers in Advances in Gerontology |
| Published human amounts | 5.0 mcg per eye, parabulbar, 10 days (162 patients); 0.5 mg/day sublingual, 20 days (75 women) | 100 mcg capsule twice daily, 2 weeks (locomotive crews) |
| Route of those amounts | Eye injection; under the tongue | By mouth |
| PubMed, title/abstract, 2026-10-22 | 121 records | 15 records |
| ClinicalTrials.gov / DailyMed | 0 / none | 0 / none |
| Vendor figure (this site's chart) | 5 mg/day × 20 days or 10 mg/day × 10 days | 1 to 2 mg SC daily × 10 to 20 days |
| Research vials | 10 mg, 50 mg | 10 mg, 20 mg |
The row that matters most is the route. Neither compound has a published human amount given under the skin, which is how the research vial is drawn. Everything a vial calculator does with these compounds converts a figure that no study used by that route.
What each record holds
Epitalon. The 2025 review in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, the most recent overview, describes two human uses of the synthetic tetrapeptide: the retinitis pigmentosa trial at the St. Petersburg institute, 5.0 mcg per eye injected beside the eyeball for ten days, and a 75-woman study of circadian rhythm, 0.5 mg a day under the tongue for twenty days with placebo and control groups. The primary eye report, from 2002, states a positive clinical effect in 90% of cases. The better-known claims about lifespan and mortality come from studies of Epithalamin, the extract, which is a different preparation. A Belgian public-health laboratory identified Epitalon in two illegal pharmaceutical preparations, published in 2015, which is the only regulator-adjacent record of it.
Pinealon. The single stated amount is in a 2012 Russian paper on locomotive-crew workers, who took a 100 mcg capsule twice a day for two weeks. The one Pinealon paper tagged as a clinical trial, in 150 lorry drivers and 150 metal craftsmen, reports that the best effect came from combining "several cytogens (pinealon and vezugen)" and gives no amount, route or schedule for either. The laboratory papers measure effects on cells in a dish, which convert to no human amount.
Equal milligrams, almost equal molecules
Unlike most comparisons on this site, the two weigh nearly the same per molecule, so a milligram of either is close to the same count: 1 mg is about 2,562 nmol of Epitalon and 2,390 nmol of Pinealon. That near-match does not make the published amounts comparable, because the routes differ — a sublingual or oral amount reaches the blood in an unknown fraction, an eye injection acts locally — and no study measured either compound's absorption by any route. The published daily amounts themselves differ fivefold: 0.5 mg of Epitalon under the tongue against 0.2 mg of Pinealon by capsule.
The vendor figures against the published ones
| Published human regimen | Total per regimen | Vendor regimen (this site's chart) | Total per vendor regimen | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Epitalon | 0.5 mg/day sublingual × 20 days | 10 mg | 5 mg/day × 20 days, or 10 mg/day × 10 days | 100 mg |
| Pinealon | 100 mcg twice daily by capsule × 14 days | 2.8 mg | 1 to 2 mg/day SC × 10 to 20 days | 10 to 40 mg |
The vendor courses are ten times the published Epitalon total and roughly four to fourteen times the Pinealon total, by injection rather than the published routes. The totals are arithmetic on the stated figures; none is a course.
The arithmetic per vial
| Vial | Water | Concentration | 0.1 mg | 0.5 mg | 1 mg | 2 mg | 5 mg |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 mg (either) | 1 mL | 10 mg/mL | 1 unit | 5 units | 10 units | 20 units | 50 units |
| 10 mg (either) | 2 mL | 5 mg/mL | 2 | 10 | 20 | 40 | 100 |
| 10 mg (either) | 3 mL | 3.33 mg/mL | 3 | 15 | 30 | 60 | 150 |
| 20 mg (Pinealon) | 2 mL | 10 mg/mL | 1 | 5 | 10 | 20 | 50 |
| 50 mg (Epitalon) | 2 mL | 25 mg/mL | 0.4 | 2 | 4 | 8 | 20 |
| 50 mg (Epitalon) | 3 mL | 16.7 mg/mL | 0.6 | 3 | 6 | 12 | 30 |
One U-100 unit is 0.01 mL; 100 units is a full 1 mL syringe. The 0.1 and 0.5 mg columns are the published oral and sublingual amounts, shown only for scale, since neither was injected; the 1, 2 and 5 mg columns are vendor figures. At the vendor's 5 mg Epitalon figure, a 10 mg vial in 2 mL fills a whole syringe; the insulin syringe units page shows how the smaller barrels read.
What is not established
No study has compared Epitalon with Pinealon, given them together, or given either under the skin to people. Both records are small and narrow in origin; the retinitis pigmentosa report is the only study of either that PubMed tags as a clinical trial and that states an amount (this site's Epithalon and Pinealon pages, read 2026-09-20 and 2026-09-21). Medibact's Epithalon guide and Pinealon guide cover the compounds. Decisions about administering anything belong with a clinician.
